About Us

We are a community of believers who follow the LORD Yeshua (Jesus), keep His commandments, and teach others to do the same (Matthew 5:17-19). We confess that we were “once Gentiles in the flesh” (Ephesians 2:11), but we “have been brought near by the blood of Christ” (Ephesians 2:13), therefore we are “no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God” (Ephesians 2:19).

Our Mission

To be a community of believers who embody the Great Commandment, and embrace the Great Commission.

Why do we call Him Yeshua?

The Hebrew name for Jesus is Yeshua and means “salvation”. This is significant because Mary and Joseph were told to name Him “Yeshua, for He will save His people from their sins.” (Matthew 1:21) Literally, “name Him Salvation, because He will save His people from their sins.” His name is Salvation!

We use the English name Jesus as well as His Hebrew name Yeshua interchangeably, but we prefer to call Him by His Hebrew name.

Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."
- Acts 4:12

First Century Faith

We advocate a return to the faith of the first-century Church. This is typically referred to as “Messianic Jewish” or “Hebrew Roots”, but we prefer to call it “Biblical Christianity”. We believe and follow our Messiah Yeshua (Jesus) and we obey His commandments (found in both the Old and New Testaments).

We are a Christian ministry that believes and teaches the whole Bible. We want to be like the noble Bereans who studied the Scriptures daily to know the truth, and we are here to “contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints.” (Jude 1:3)

Statement of Faith

These are the beliefs of the Grafted Church. Our Messiah taught us to beware of false doctrine and to watch out for false teachers. Likewise, Paul urges us not to be tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine (Ephesians 4:14), and warns us that the time will come when many will not endure sound doctrine (2 Timothy 4:3). Having sound Biblical doctrine is important, which is why we posted this list of fundamental beliefs. This is not meant to be an exhaustive list, but simply a starting point for our faith.

“But as for you, speak the things which are proper for sound doctrine”
– Titus 2:1

Inspiration of Scripture

The Holy Bible was written by men divinely inspired and is God’s revelation of Himself to man. The Scriptures, both the Old and New Testaments, are the inspired Word of God and are therefore the revelation of God to man, the infallible, authoritative rule of faith and conduct. We believe the Bible contains all truth necessary for salvation, faith, holiness, relationships, and godly living. The Bible has God for its author, salvation for its end, and truth, without any mixture of error, for its matter. Therefore, all Scripture is completely true and trustworthy. It reveals the principles by which God judges, and therefore is, and will remain to the end of the world, the source for Christian faith, and the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and religious opinions should be based. All Scripture is a testimony to Yeshua, who is Himself the focus of divine revelation.

“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
– 2 Timothy 3:16-17

God is One

We believe in one God, revealed as the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit throughout the Bible. He is the eternally self-existent "I AM," the Creator of heaven and earth and the Redeemer of mankind. The eternal triune God reveals Himself to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, with distinct personal attributes, but without division of nature, essence, or being. While the term "Trinity" is not found in the Scriptures, this is a term that aligns with the testimony of Scripture that Father, Son, and Holy Spirit co-exist as one in the Godhead. It also distinguishes the One True God and LORD from "many gods and many lords." We therefore may speak with propriety of the Lord our God who is One Lord, as a trinity or as one Being of three persons, and still be absolutely scriptural.

“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one!”
– Deuteronomy 6:4

Deity of Yeshua

The Lord Yeshua is the eternal Son of God. The Scriptures declare His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His substitutionary work on the cross, His bodily resurrection from the dead, and His exaltation to the right hand of God the Father. The Lord Yeshua, as to His divine and eternal nature, is the proper and only Begotten of the Father, but as to His human nature, He is the proper Son of Man. He is, therefore, acknowledged to be both God and man; and because He is God and man is "Immanuel," God with us.

“For the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son, that all should honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him.”
John 5:22-23

Since the Father has delivered all judgment unto the Son, it is not only the express duty of all in heaven and on earth to bow the knee, but it is an unspeakable joy in the Holy Spirit to ascribe unto the Son all the attributes of Deity and to give Him all honor and the glory contained in all the names and titles of the Godhead.

“Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.”
1 John 4:15

“that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
– Philippians 2:10-11

Sinfulness of Mankind

Man is the special creation of God, made in His own image. He created them male and female as the crowning work of His creation. However, man by voluntary transgression fell and brought sin into the human race, thereby incurring not only physical death but also spiritual death. Through the temptation of Satan man transgressed the command of God, and fell from his original innocence whereby his posterity inherited a nature and an environment inclined toward sin.

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
– Romans 6:23

Salvation

Man's only hope of redemption is through the shed blood of Yeshua, the Son of God. Salvation is received through repentance toward God and faith toward the Lord Yeshua. By the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, being justified by grace through faith, man becomes an heir of God, according to the hope of eternal life. The inward evidence of salvation is the direct witness of the Spirit. The outward evidence to all men is a life of righteousness and holiness, a life led by the Holy Spirit according to the Holy Scriptures.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
– John 3:16

Water Baptism

Baptism by immersion in water is commanded by the Scriptures. (Matthew 28:19, Acts 2:38, Acts 22:16)

All who repent and believe in Christ as Savior and Lord are commanded to be baptized as an act of faith in response to the grace of God for our salvation. (Mark 16:16)

Baptism is a public confession (demonstration) of our faith in a crucified, buried, and risen Saviour; the believer's death to sin; the burial of the old life, and the resurrection to walk in newsness of life in Yeshua our Lord. (Romans 6:3-4)

Baptism is a church ordinance and servs a testimony to our faith in the final resurrection of the dead.

“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,”
– Matthew 28:19

Passover

Passover (sometimes called the Lord’s Supper) is commanded by Yeshua as a remembrance of the salvation and New Covenant we have access to by His shed blood. By partaking of the bread and the fruit of the vine, we memorialize the death and resurrection of the Redeemer and anticipate His second coming. Passover is a memorial of the salvation of God, both in the Exodus and through the shed blood of our Lord Yeshua. Passover is a sacred and holy service to the LORD and should remain sacred to all believers in every generation.

“In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.”
– 1 Corinthians 11:25

Baptism of the Holy Spirit

All believers should earnestly seek the promise of the Father, the baptism in the Holy Spirit, according to the command of our Lord Yeshua. This was the normal experience of all believers in the early Church and should be the normal experience of all believers today as well. With it comes the enduement of power for life and service, the bestowment of the gifts and their uses in the work of the ministry.

“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
– Acts 1:8

Sabbath Day

The Sabbath day was established at Creation, and we are given the Commandment to "Remember the Sabbath day and keep it holy." The Sabbath is a Holy Convocation (sacred assembly of believers) and a day of rest in which we do no ordinary work. It is a day devoted to God, to His service, a day set apart for worship, prayer, Bible teaching, and fellowship with believers. We are given six days to complete all our work, but the seventh day is dedicated to the LORD, and we understand that Yeshua is the LORD of the Sabbath, so we honor Him by keeping His Sabbath each week. The Sabbath day is the seventh day of the week, commonly referred to as Saturday. The Sabbath begins Friday evening at sunset and ends Saturday evening at sunset.

“For the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.”
– Matthew 12:8

Resurrection of the Dead

Our hope for eternal life is found in the resurrection of the dead. No one has ascended to heaven except Yeshua, who is now in heaven (John 3:13), but we shall be made alive with Yeshua at His return (1 Corinthians 15:23). The Bible teaches that when Yeshua returns, the dead in Christ shall rise first and those who remain alive will join them and we will all be transformed and given new spiritual bodies that do not die. We believe if we endure until the end, we will be saved. The dead in Christ will sleep in the grave until the return of our Lord, and at His return, we will be resurrected unto eternal life, our mortality will put on immortality, and we will live eternal life with God in His Kingdom.

However, there is also a second resurrection for the punishment of the wicked. After the thousand-year reign of Christ on earth, the rest of the dead will be resurrected for judgment at the Great White Throne, and anyone whose name is not written in the Book of Life will be cast into the lake of fire to be destroyed (both body and soul). This is called the "second death".

“I have hope in God, which they themselves also accept, that there will be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and the unjust.”
– Acts 24:15

Sanctity of Marriage

God designed marriage to be between one man and one woman only. (Genesis 2:24, Ephesians 5:31, 1 Timothy 3:2, 1 Timothy 3:12, 1 Timothy 5:9, Titus 1:6)

Marriage is a most holy covenant between a husband and wife and a covenant between that couple and the Lord. The sanctity of marriage lies in these choices: to love each other even when you don't like each other, and to stay together even when the only thing preventing separation is the simple decision not to separate. Marriage is a lifelong covenant of faithfulness: for better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death separates you.

"Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge."
- Hebrews 13:4
“So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.”
– Matthew 19:6

Our Practice

Our Practice is the way we walk out our faith, and how we show love to God. We are told to practice righteousness and this is how we recognize the children of God (1 John 3:10). The Bible also tells us that faith without works is dead (James 2:18,20,26). The goal of a disciple is to be like his master, and we desire and make it our aim to walk out our faith in the same way our Lord Yeshua walked.

“If you love Me, keep My commandments.”
– John 14:15

Sabbath and Feast Days

We keep the weekly seventh-day Sabbath as commanded in Scripture. We also keep the annual Feasts of the LORD as commanded in Scripture. These Feasts include Passover, Unleavened Bread, FirstFruits, Pentecost, Trumpets, Atonement, and Tabernacles. (All of these Feasts are found in Leviticus 23)

Food Laws

We eat only things the Bible defines as food and avoid the unclean animals the Bible forbids us from eating. Which means we don’t eat pig, shellfish, catfish, etc. (These instructions are found in Leviticus 11)

Modesty

We dress modestly, women wearing clothing appropriate for a woman of God, and men wearing clothing appropriate for a man of God. Men do not wear women’s clothing, and women do not wear men’s clothing. (Deuteronomy 22:5, 1 Timothy 2:9-10, 1 Corinthians 11:4-5)

Biblical Male Headship

We follow Biblical headship. The husband is the head of the house and the spiritual leader, and he is responsible for teaching his children to love the LORD. The husband is commanded to love his wife in the same way Christ loves His church. Likewise, the wife is commanded to submit to and respect her husband in the same way the church does to the LORD. Children are expected to honor their parents, and parents are not to provoke or discourage their children. (Ephesians 5:22-28, Colossians 3:18-21, Titus 2:1-8, 1 Peter 3:1-2, Exodus 20:12, ).

“Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous.”
– 1 John 3:7

False Teachings We Reject

We see the following things as un-Biblical heresies that cause contention and lead people astray in their faith. We will not tolerate such things in our congregation. If you are found to be spreading these heresies, you will be asked to leave and not return until you repent from such false teachings.

“But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction.”
– 1 Peter 2:1

We do NOT believe any Theology that denies the Deity or Incarnation of Yeshua

This includes Unitarian theology, Arianism, Docetism, Modalism, and any other theology that denies that Yeshua (Jesus) is God incarnate, or claims that He was simply a created being. We boldly reject any theology that denies the deity of Yeshua. (John 1:1, John 17:5, Colossians 1:15-19, Colossians 2:9, Hebrews 1:1-6, Philippians 2:6-11, 1 Timothy 6:15-16, Titus 2:12)

We do NOT believe in Sacred Name Theology

That affirms one cannot use or say the English names of Jesus, God, or Lord, as they are seen as corrupt versions of His Hebrew name YHVH or Yeshua. We believe this theology is a distraction from what true faith is based on: a relationship with and obedience to God. No one knows for certain how ancient Hebrew was pronounced, so we also do not want to argue about the pronunciation of names. When people bring these topics up they are producing contention and strife.

We do NOT believe in Anti-Pauline Theology

Which declares Paul’s teaching is contrary to that of Jesus and therefore Paul’s doctrines and his Epistles should be rejected. We believe that Paul was an Apostle chosen by Yeshua and his writings are inspired by the Holy Spirit.

We do NOT believe in adding or removing books from the Bible

There is a growing number of people who think they have the authority to decide what books should or should not be included in Scripture. The Bible warns us not to add to or take away from the Word of God. We believe the 66 books of the Bible contained in the Old and New Testament are the complete Scripture and we do not believe in adding new books or removing current books from the Canon of Scripture. Extrabiblical, Apocryphal, and Pseudepigraphal texts should not be treated like Holy Spirit-inspired Scripture. (Deuteronomy 12:32, Revelation 22:18-19, 2 Timothy 3:16)

We do NOT believe in the Lunar Sabbath

The Lunar Sabbath belief comes from ancient Babylon and not from the Bible. The Babylonians based their monthly sabbaths on the new moon. It was not the continuous 7-day cycle we are commanded to keep in Scripture. (Genesis 2:2-3, Exodus 16:23, Exodus 20:8-11, Exodus 31:13-17, Leviticus 23:3, Deuteronomy 5:15, Matthew 12:12, Mark 2:27-28, Acts 13:42-44, Acts 18:4)

We do NOT believe in any un-Biblical form of marriage

We believe that God designed marriage to be between one man and one woman only. Men cannot marry men, and women cannot marry women. Men should not have more than one wife, and women cannot have more than one husband. This is God’s design for marriage and anything outside of “one man and one woman” is considered un-Biblical. (Genesis 2:24, Ephesians 5:31, 1 Timothy 3:2, 1 Timothy 3:12, 1 Timothy 5:9, Titus 1:6)

We do NOT believe in Torah-based salvation

The Torah is holy and true, and we believe that obedience to the Torah is what God desires and commands from His people, but obedience to the Torah is not what saves you. We are saved by grace through faith in Yeshua. We can do nothing to save ourselves. (Ephesians 2:8, Romans 6:23, Acts 4:12, Romans 1:16, Romans 10:10)

We do NOT believe in “Race-based” theology

Such as British Israelism or Black Hebrew Israelites, or any other theology that emphasizes DNA, skin color, genetics, ancestry, etc. Any theology that is based on race or genealogy always detracts from the true faith and salvation found in the Bible. We are saved by grace through faith in Yeshua, not by genealogy or skin color. (Galatians 3:7, 1 Timothy 1:4, Titus 3:9, Ephesians 2:8, Revelation 5:9)

We do NOT believe in Replacement Theology

Which states the Church has replaced Israel. The Gentiles did not replace Israel, we are grafted into Israel and we become fellow citizens with them and share in the covenants with them. Remember that the Bible says the New Covenant is with Israel and Judah. (Jeremiah 31:31, Hebrews 8:8, Ephesians 2:11-19, Romans 11:17-24)

“But avoid foolish disputes, genealogies, contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and useless. Reject a divisive man after the first and second admonition, knowing that such a person is warped and sinning, being self-condemned.”
- Titus 3:9-11
